Due to the relaxation of side chain chromophores and loose packing order of main chain, the PIDO3 sample reveal poor thermal property (Tg = 165oC). In order to enhance thermal stability, the NLO-active polyimide/inorganic semi-interpenetrating polymer network was prepared to serve the purpose of restricting molecular movement via incorporating inorganic alkoxysilanes. With the inorganic content up to 50%, the Tg of PIPT could increase to 184 oC. On the country, the dye content of PIPT decreased to 13.6% and relatively lower electro-optical coefficient (r33, 5.2 pm/V) was obtained.
