I am grateful that in the summer of 2002 God brought me to a cancer seminar by Dr. Richard Yu held by Linkage of CCM. I met Judy Choy, the then coordinator of Linkage, and knew that they were planning to form a Cancer Care Group. I felt that would be very meaningful because in 1998 my mother went to heaven due to cancer, and I myself was also diagnosed with colon cancer in 2001. From my experience, I knew the needs of cancer patients and their families, as they face all the physical and emotional pains. They need the support of others who are in the same shoes.

ABSTRACT: Random amplified polymorphic DNA was used in analysing the relationship among twenty-six speices of Amanita from Mangshan, Hunan. Of 40 primers, 6 ones generated reproducible RAPD profiles, and each one produced 1-10 bands. Two primers (OPG15 and OPH04) could differentiate 26 species of Amanita by its RAPD profiles. The similarity coefficients obtained from profiles generated by six primers among Amanita were about 20-60%. A dendrogram was constructed using average linkage clustering for clustering analysis. It indicated that there were two groups in 26 species and some species with ring and membranous volva clustered a group which coincided with morphological classification.

Methods The 26th exon, the 30th exon and the 21st intron of gene GP Ⅱb in 110 individuals were amplified by polymorphism and sequenced to investigate whether there was linkage among the polymorphisms of the gene. Human platelet antigen-3 (HPA-3) gene frequency was detected by Fok 1 enzyme in 147 patients with hematologic diseases, and was compared with that in 110 normal individuals. Forty-four patients who received apheresis platelet transfusion repeatedly were randomly divided into the HPA-3 homotype group and the control group. The antibodies of the platelet were detected after 3 times of platelet transfusion.
