Several methods of calculating the final settlement of soft soil ground are introduced, including the hyperbolic method, index curve method, threepoint method and Asaoka method. An engineering case is presented, and the merits, drawbacks and applicability of the above methods are analyzed.

In the research a index system which can be used for evaluating economics of core drilling project is set up, and formulas for calculating drilling time and drilling cost are deduced. Taking the technical design of a 5000 m core drilling project as example, the core drilling technologies of Chinese Continental Scientific Drilling Project have been evaluated.
