Through analysis of the wear data of wheels and brake shoes of the freight cars running on the heavy haul freight traffic line, the Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway Line, it is concluded that the main factors affecting wheel wear of heavy haul freight cars are the axle load, goods turnover capacity, brake shoe quality, wheel hardness and wheel diameter difference between the two wheels of the same wheelset.
