The method of partial least-squares regression has basis functions of the multivariate regression analysis, the canonical correlation analysis and the principal component analysis, and can effectively deal with the problems of the multicollinearity among variables, but can not ideally solve the complicated problems of non linearity between dependent variables and independent variables. The method of neural network is an ideal tool to deal with the problem of non-linearity, but serious correlation of input data will make the network unsteady and very slow. The paper tries to combine the two methods for predicting displacement of roadway surrounding rock.
偏最小二乘回归方法集多元回归、典型相关分析及主成分析的功能于一体，能有效地处理自变量的多重线性相关问题，但不能较好地处理因变量与自变量间复杂的非线性问题，而神经网络方法是处理非线性问题的有力工具，但输入数据的严重相关性会使得网络的求解变得不稳定且收敛速度很慢，本文试图把这两种方法结合在一起来预测巷道围岩的位移。
